   Proposal Description:
   The role of depression as a modifiable risk factor versus a prodromal symptom of dementia has not been clearly established. Studies have found inconsistent results across different cultures/populations. This current study aims to explore the relation between dementia and depression from a cross-cultural framework.    Aims:  Explore how clinician-based diagnosis of depression and self-reported depressive symptom clusters (previously validated in Chinese populations) can predict cognitive impairment in a cross-sectional cohort of Chinses-speaking immigrants while controlling other known risk factors (e.g., APOE4 status, cardiovascular risk, age, education).    Compare the models across different ethnic groups using demographically matched cohorts.
